Congratulations on the newest member of your family! At the University of Illinois Chicago, we understand the importance of supporting employees and students who choose to continue breastfeeding upon returning to work or study. That’s why we’ve worked closely with college and department leadership to create a nurturing and accommodating environment. Our family-friendly resources are designed in alignment with national healthcare laws and standards, ensuring that you have the support you need to achieve your breastfeeding goals.
In accordance with Illinois School Code – Breastfeeding Accommodations for Pupils, lactating students will be provided with a reasonable amount of time to express breast milk (or breastfeed an infant child). Lactating students shall not incur an academic penalty for using reasonable accommodation to express breast milk during the school day.
