The UIC Little Sparks Program is a childcare assistance program designed to support UIC parent-students by providing affordable, high quality childcare for infants, toddlers, and young children, along with a comprehensive wraparound care system, study-play areas across campus, accessible lactation rooms with counseling support, year round family events, and fostering a culture of visibility and belonging.

To be eligible for CCAMPIS funds, students must:

• Be Pell-eligible
• Maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher
• Enroll and maintain full-time status
• Participate in a parent engagement plan

The program provides financial assistance to cover up to 100% of childcare expenses for eligible student-parents. This assistance helps alleviate the financial burden associated with childcare costs.

To apply for the program, eligible student-parents can submit an application form along with any required documentation to the Little Sparks Program office. Applications are reviewed, and assistance is awarded based on eligibility criteria and available funds.

Required documents typically include proof of enrollment at UIC, proof of parent status, proof of financial income, and documentation of childcare expenses. Specific requirements may vary, so it’s essential to review the application guidelines carefully.

Childcare assistance is determined based on factors such as the student-parent’s financial need, the cost of childcare, and available program funds. The program aims to provide support to eligible student-parents while maximizing available resources.

The program prioritizes on-campus care at UIC Children’s Center and allows childcare assistance only for approved partnering licensed childcare providers. Partnering childcare sites are currently for Infant & Toddler childcare for those receiving or eligible for CCAP. It’s essential to ensure that the chosen childcare provider meets the program’s eligibility requirements.

Childcare assistance is typically awarded per semester. Student-parents must reapply for assistance each semester to continue receiving support.

In addition to childcare assistance, the Little Sparks Program may offer additional support services, such as referrals to community resources, parenting workshops, and networking opportunities for student-parents.
